ABOUT ME

My name is Natalie Markowitz Wittlin (she/her), and I am an NRSA-funded Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Human Diversity Lab at Princeton University and an incoming Assistant Professor in the Psychology Program at Bard College. I take new approaches to the study of gender by examining the intersection between the physical (i.e., bodies and appearances) and the psychological (i.e., stereotypes, identity, and mental health). Through my work, I offer novel insights into psychological processes that impact women and LGBTQ+ individuals. As an educator and mentor, I have high expectations for the students I work with and support them in meeting these expectations in several ways: by fostering a sense of belonging and empowerment; by encouraging engagement with personally-relevant issues; by providing opportunities for knowledge creation; and by working with them to hone their writing skills.
